My curiosity about health, healing, and movement began at a young age. My approach to healing is holistic, incorporating teachings of science, my knowledge of human physical and energetic anatomy, and spiritual intuition.
I've been a seeker all my life. So many questions about the unseen world, and about healing. About how people heal, about what exists beyond our 6 senses. I had a fascination with all things mystical. I also had a fascination with movement and, as a child, tried to teach myself how to dance and spin on ice skates, having grown up in a Canadian city where everything froze in the winter.
As a teenager I took myself to dance classes and later joined a small modern dance company, where I stayed for several years. I began to think seriously about a career in helping people heal, and began my journey as a Practitioner of Healing Arts after graduating from the Physical Therapy program at California State University, Northridge. I later pursued graduate studies at Utica College in New York and am now a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I've practiced for 30+ years, in acute and outpatient care in a major university hospital, in several outpatient orthopedic clinics, in home health, and in my own practice.
My love of and background in dance have always informed my work in helping people restore optimal pain free and functional movement. For several years during college I taught aerobics and fitness classes. Since 2005 I've been working as Physical Therapist for dancers in the Dance Program at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, helping dancers recover from injury and educating them about injury prevention. I also teach dance conditioning classes and an academic class in Kinesiology for Dancers.
Pilates based exercise is a large part of my treatment approach with dancers and non-dancers. I also draw from healing traditions of QiGong, yoga, and other somatic practices and am certified as a Nutrition Specialist.
Most recently, I received Shamanic training and certification from the
Four Winds Society as a Master Practitioner of Energy Medicine. Since then, I've completed the advanced training in Shamanic energy healing. This was a natural progression in my journey, as I have always believed that healing isn't complete without addressing a person's entire being - body, mind, and spirit. It was early on in my career as a Physical Therapist that I began to question the limitations of addressing only the physical body and began to see changes in people that I couldn't explain by any technique I was applying. Looking back, my entire life has led me to this point.
As a seeker, Physical Therapist, teacher, and Practitioner of Energy Medicine, I continue to seek, learn, and refine my skills and my understanding of healing. I am humbled to help.
